Worcester City Council is once more encouraging the public to recycle their Christmas trees after the festive toughen finishes. This year’s scheme runs from Friday 5th January until the evening of Sunday 14th January. Alternatively householders with a shredder can use their chipped trees on their own garden. The chipped branches can be added to the compost heap or used as surface mulch particularly on acid loving plants such as rhododendrons and azaleas. “Strawberry plants really love old Christmas tree needles,” said Mr. Bond. Worcester City Council was the first local authority in the UK to start a Christmas channelise recycling scheme. Now most local authorities have followed its lead to give their own service. “In 1991 when we began we recycled just 70 trees,” added Mr Bond. “This figure has grown dramatically and last year we recycled more than 9,000 trees recycled at the four city displace sites alone.”

I am a Jew and every hit one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me change surface a little bit when people label those beautiful lit up bejeweled trees Christmas trees.
