"Recipe Cards and preserving family secrets" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-08-04 13:09:47

I'm a married mouse together we are meeces. And if you are so lucky to be a friendly meece of mine. oh then you can ascertain yourself special indeed. Just as a reminder for anyone attempting to wrangle their recipes here's the entry for you: We created the template and saved it in Microsoft Word and then every time we wanted to type in a new recipe we just went to file open template and typed it in hit save as and voila you have a new recipe ready for printing. We just recently made a desktop shortcut to "family recipes" for my mom and I used a usb flash drive and stole the recipes. I havent done anything per se with them yet. I just have them as a back-up in case their computer crashes. So just some thoughts on how to keep your recipes in order and safeguard your family secrets.. and of course I'm spilling all my family's tried and true family secret recipes on a secret blog. Ha! Great idea. I had a "thought" to do something like this last year. I ended up spending hours and days and weeks typing up all my family's recipes and made a family cookbook. Recipes are always such a great thing to keep from family members. Now I can cook some of the same things I bequeath my Granny cooking when I was little. Okay so mine not be quite as good as hers but I'm workin' on it! :P

"Damaging Your Business One Recipe Card At A Time" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 19:43:02

After writing the title I figured I had just about said it all. “But Why?” Some of you may say. Others will get defensive and tell me that they have been sending them for years and their clients love them. In fact they look for them in the send. I even had one agent who was furious. She came up to me after the presentation and told me that her grandmother would be deeply disappointed since the recipes she used has all been in her families for years. All irrelevant. I heard someone years ago say it the best. “If you want to be a cook buy a set of knives if you want to be a real estate professional transfer out merchandise information like it was candy.” Statiscally speaking we know from a USPS survey (Mail Moment. 2005) that the add up person wants value in the marketing that is delivered to them. You may argue that a recipe is of value to them and it may be. But is it the right value in which they are seeking? Probably not. To be real about it the average homeowner wants information that pertains to their accommodate their largest investment more than your take on chocolate chip cookies. In markets like today when homeowners have lots of questions they need to know that you are knowledgeable about real estate not cooking. You are better off bringing the already made food to a client along with some merchandise reports. By the way for Matt’s Strawberry Alfredo recipe. MORE RESOURCES:To be bring together there are many opinions about recipe cards. Here are other blogs about them: or Matthew. I agree with you 100%. We undergo a new agent in our office who thought this was a great idea because she loved the recipe cards that she recieved from an agent in the past. Problem is she could not bequeath the agent that sent them. We need to send something of value that is related to real estate. If we want recipes we can go to our cookbooks and get recipes. Hi Kate: Thanks for posting. I believe you would have contacted the agent BECAUSE you had an established relationship with them and they had proven themselves to you not because of the recipe cards. Marina. I'm not a real estate agent but I do research the real estate industry. furnish line is that there is nothing wrong with gifts and giving people your ideas for recipes. I'm not even doubting that they work some of the time. I believe marketing dollars are beat spent elsewhere especially on marketing tools that will position you at the top of the real estate market. Anything you can do to give yourself credibility ordain.

"Recipes" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 18:34:49

I started going through the cabinets earlier this week in my attempt to corral some of the errant recipes I've got floating around here. Tonight. I started transferring the "keepers" to index cards to be filed away. I undergo two recipe separate boxes both were my Mom's.1. The Campbell's Soup recipe box that she got a few years before she died one of those you got if you sent in enough upcs or whatever. It came with an assortment of recipes. I have it but I don't use it much.2. The Other Box. I saw it on ebay once it was listed as vintage from the early 1970's. I assume that my Mom got it when she was newly married. It has definitely yellowed with age and the lid doesn't shut quite alter but it is usually kept change state anyway so a wonky lid doesn't factor in that much. I was going through The Other Box tonight and in doing that. I see bits and pieces of my Mom. The pecan pie recipe most likely my Aunt Alma's written on a dessert size paper coat folded in half and in half again. Two copies of my Grama's Pineapple Upside Down cover (PUD cover) stored in two different places - C for Cake and P for Pineapple. The very yellow and very worn recipe cards for fudge brownies banana bread and cookie bars. Those are my most used cards and they don't even get filed away but rather stuffed back in the front desire she did with the Happy Home Recipe. My Mom died over seven years ago and I've had the recipe separate box for almost as long.. it was one of the first things I grabbed when I went approve home shortly after she died. I didn't act a lot.. the recipe card box a few things from her dresser her Tupperware mixing bowl with the command and the lid. If you were to be at what I kept it wouldn't be worth more than $2 at a store sale but to me it's the world. It's a bit of her who she was what she taught me. The recipes undergo her transfer writing on them - something to show my kids. The recipes are who she was - what she liked what she was thinking about. It's like going back in time a bit... It also brings back the memories you undergo with the dish.. the party you served the Swedish Meatballs at the picnic where Lisa introduced us to Apple Dip the instructions for Swedish Potato Sausage our traditional New Years Day meal. It's also the time spent in the kitchen the conversations had while mixing up a meatloaf or stirring up chocolate for another pan of fudge. It's so much more than a recipe.. it's my history it's my kids' history. I'm slowly adding my most loved recipes to the lie of the box - green spice soup pound cover yeast bread. The new color list cards amalgamate with the color and the frayed. The hands that touch them now are exploit cooking for the populate that I like. Dog eared corners splats where water may have dripped chocolate fingerprint smudges.. what you can't see is the like that goes in there. Thats what I'm sharing every measure I go into the kitchen. Thanks. Mom.

"World Most Expensive Free Green Bean Recipe" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 23:38:37

I got this great recipe separate in a teaser mailing this week. Gorgeous recipe cards for all the courses of a wonderful meal. Doesn't this look awesome.. it really tastes great too. I happened to undergo farmer's market fresh color beans the day this came in the mail so I tried out the recipe. It was almost enough to provoke me to write up for the convenient every 3 week mailing of wonderful recipes. Almost. There are "more than 1000 recipes" and each mailing ordain include 12 of them. Yum- o you may be thinking. Each mailing is just under $9 when you consider to postage. You do the math... you could buy one hell of a lot of cookbooks of your choosing for around $750! Of cover you won't get the nice little plastic storage box to keep them in that you do get with the cards. You're on your own when it comes to storing that many create from raw material books. I use to collect cookbooks. Now my recipes are in my computer and I've kept only a handful of my very favorite actual cookbooks. I kind of desire them but space becomes an issue sooner or later. But I have wandered so back to the recipe cards. When I was a new bride. I joined one of these clubs and I really learned a lot about cooking. I made almost every recipe. But it seems to me that they were around $3 a pack and there was a finite be that you agreed to at the beginning of the club. Times have changed. Anyway here is this really great recipe. Make it before the cold winds blow. 1. Bring 1/2 inch of water to a change state in a large 10 inch nonstick skillet. Add the beans simmer covered over medium heat for about 8 minutes. You really should cut off the tips of the beans they can be unpleasant to eat. course in a colander. 2. alter butter in the skilet unitl melted. Add the shallots and sugar. create from raw material about 2 minutes or until softened and a pretty golden alter. Add flavor spice and the green beans. Stir gently and cook another 3 minutes to heat through. 3. shift skillet from heat add lemon flavor and basil. Spoon onto serving plate. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately.
