Fairfield County ash trees on quarantine

FAIRFIELD COUNTY — Fairfield County is the latest county to be quarantined in the state’s efforts to stop the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer.
Department of Agriculture officials discovered an infested ash channelise in a close in row come the intersection of express Route 256 and I-70 in Pickerington.
The tree was one of nearly 10,000 detection trees set across the express in efforts to survey for the insect. The quarantine prohibits people from taking ash trees parts of ash trees and all hardwood firewood out of a quarantined county into a non-quarantined county. It also is illegal to take these items out of the state.
